Andhra pradesh eco tourism Maredumilli bambu chiken
Maredumilli has many streams and waterfalls situated in the thick semi evergreen forests of the eastern ghats with undulating terrain and the area is situated on Rajahmundry-Bhadrachalam road (80 km. from Rajahmundry). The community conservation and eco-tourism area is managed by the indigenous tribal community of Valamuru and Somireddypalem villages. This area is abode for a tribe called “Konda Reddys”. Important plant species like caryota urens, Bamboos, Terminalia tomentosa, Adena cardifolia and Teak are available here. There are number of attractions like Nandanavanam (medicinal plants awareness centre), Medicinal plants conservation and development area, Madanakunj viharasthal with tropical pines and bamboos, jungle star camping site bounded by Valamuru river on three sides, trek to 30 mt high Amruthadhara and 15 mt high Swarnadhara waterfalls, Rubber plantation etc.
Other locations one must visit are Neelakanteswara waterfalls, an ancient shiva temple (in a cave) and majestic Rampa waterfalls near Rampa village. Local tribal dance form “Kommu dance” is a local attraction but not available for visitors at all times. The best part here is the tribal cuisine; bamboo chicken, bamboo shoot curry, bamboo chutney, and other herbal preparations. It is learnt that bamboo chicken has become a huge hit with the visitors and even foreign tourists enjoyed it thoroughly. When we were at Madanakunj, we got drenched in the heavy down pour which happened suddenly and we enjoyed the experience like small children and incidentally it was the “Holi” day!!
There is a beautiful forest rest house with 4 suites, one hill top rest house and canteen for providing accommodation. Local community guides are available.

We also had a memorable housing boat experience on river Godavari at Dindi, about 120 km. away from Rajahmundry (East Godavari district). The beauty of this konaseema has to seen and experienced. There are several attractions like Sivakodi Lanka, Antarvedi (Lord Nrisimha temple), old pedestrian and cantilever bridges, Koringa mangroves sanctuary. Coconut trees and palmyras dot the entire landscape and the coconut trees with their swaying branches on both banks of river Godavari look like two warring armies scheming and standing apart ready with all armour and ammunition to strike each other. Fishermen boats, fishing nets, shoals of jumping fishes, coconuts and dry fish are quite common here. There is a beautiful resort “Coconut Country Resorts” run by AP Tourism Development Corporation at Dindi.
One can visit APTDC website to have details of accommodation and house boat facility.
Then, we traveled to Uppada village near Kakinada to buy famous Uppada sarees (in silk as well as cotton). En route we visited GVK power plant just to see how a beautiful garden was groomed in once hopeless quarry area. Two white swans and two black swans imported from Brazil and Australia respectively have added royal touch to the whole ambience. Mr. Prasada Rao, a retired civil engineer turned horticulturist & forester made this area a haven with beautiful landscaping, mini zoo, and gardening with fruit and flowering plants. It was amazing to see how he could name and explain history of each and every plant species he nurtured there. On the whole, it was a wonderful and rejuvenating experience to meet such inspiring people and visit such beautiful places.

Wild Life
India's wildlife is both rich and varied. More than 4% of India's land is under forest cover- there are at least 90 national parks and 482 wildlife sanctuaries. The country is one of the 12 mega diversity areas in the world, in terms of animal. The Indian subcontinent has varied physical and climatic conditions and types of vegetation, stretching from the northern temperate Zone to the equator and embracing such contrasting regions as the Himalayas in the north and tropical sea-coast in the south. The affinity of fauna of the Siwalik beds and that of present-day Africa and India suggest that they were derived from common species which migrated from Europe and Central Asia which enjoyed warm climate at that time.
Mammals
India being a tropical country has an amazing diversity of vegetation and wildlife. Here are some images of the wild for your viewing pleasure.
Tiger
Wildlife travel facilitates in viewing the majestic Indian tiger in its natural habitat. Perceived as an icon of strength, speed and agility, the tiger and shades of its existence can be seen finely woven into the local culture and tradition. In this section, we bring you the other side of this regal animal – which is quite fascinating !
Wildlife Sanctuaries
India has a wealth of about 80 National Parks and 441 sanctuaries. Many of the wildlife sanctuaries and a few national parks have been established in erstwhile private hunting reserves of the British Raj and Indian aristocracy. often, a park is better known for a particular animal. Travel to Gir National Park in Gujarat, famous for its Asiatic lions, the Indian rhinoceros is the pride of Kaziranga (Assam), elephants steal the show in Periyar (Kerala), and tigers are synonymous with Kanha (Madhya Pradesh) and Bandavgarh (Madhya Pradesh). The mangrove forests of Sunderbans are the unique habitat of the Royal Bengal Tiger..

-:ARAKU VALLEY:-
The Eastern Ghats is Home to Spectacular Landscapes and Wonderful Valleys and Araku is the Queen of All. Filled with endless valleys, dancing waters, singing trees, the list is big. Situated a height of 1300 ft above Sea Level, A visit to Araku the Queen of Eastern Ghats is truly a magical experience. Lush rice fields, thickly wooded forests, sugar cane and coffee plantations and waterfalls makes this spectacular piece of land a wonderful tourist destination.
The valley is inhabited by about 19 tribes - the women, with their saris draped unusually, the ends tied over one shoulder. Bright orange, red and purple flowers decorate their hair, and their noses are pierced centrally by a jeweled bulak.
-:ARAKU TRIBAL MUSEUM:-
The Museum of habitat showcases the lifestyle of the tribals who inhabit the valley. The museum, housed in a charming red-roofed bungalow, depicts scenes from the daily lives of the tribals. As we move from room to room, we are greeted by such realistic sculptures of tribals in their natural habitat that on many occasions, visitors take them for real! While a tribal lady cooks the evening meal, another feeds her child and a male tribal watches guard over his family, spear in hand. The weapons of the tribes form a large part of this fascinating but small museum. Their chunky silver jewellery, ornate and elegant, is showcased in the main atrium of the museum.
-: PADMAPURAM GARDENS:-
A short drive away from the station is the famed Padmapuram Gardens, built in 1942 on a 26-acre plot to supply vegetables to the soldiers who fought World War II. After the War, it was converted into a Horticultural Nursery cum Training Center where orchards, rare species of flowers and trees, tree houses and stone sculptures greet the eye. The gardens are well laid out and, as everywhere else, the “araku” or red soil of this region forms a colourful contrast with the dense greenery in this garden. A pleasurable way of seeing the gardens is to get on to the Araku Express toy train, popular with visitors to the gardens. A beautiful rose garden and exotic varieties of plants form the chief attractions here.
-:CHAPARAI VIEW POINT:-
Chaparai is another beautiful place. It is a perennial stream passing through the natural rocks and picturesque surroundings. The entire road leading to chaparai is very beautiful and you can have a wonderful view of the hills.
A scenic place with water falls and surrounding forest area makes people relax and spend their holiday joyfully. Usually people who visit Araku valley won't miss this place as it is very nearer to the main Araku valley place.
Just remove your footwear and experience the cool softness of the water and the slimy rocks beneath. Up close, the trees look even more beautiful. The ground beneath the green canopy smells of fresh soil and looks perfect for a stopover. The seconds and minutes will seem to tick away in slow motion
Lot of movies have been shot on this route and you will thoroughly enjoy the drive to Chaparai.
Be careful while entering the stream as it can be slippery and dangerous.

Submarine Museum:
Located on the Beach Submarine-'Kursura' is a one of its kind museum created in a real (now de-commisioned) submarine of Indian Navy. This is the first of its kind in eastern asia. This submarine is one of the earliest submarine procured from Russia. One gets to interesting facts of working in the submarine. INS Kursura played a stellar role in the 1971 Indo-Pak conflict .During her glorious service to the nation, she took part in various exercises with Indian and other foreign navies. Fitted with 22 torpedoes and able to reach speeds of 15.5 knots, she reigned supreme as the unchallenged underwater force, tearing the mighty oceans apart at the behest of her commanding masters and throwing open the hitherto un-reached ocean deeps
INS Kursura was decommissioned after moved to the land on 28th Feb, 2001, after a glorious service of 31 years to the nation. Having conquered the impossible underwater challenges, she is now all set to conquer the ever grateful Indian hearts and souls.
Simhachalam tample of lard lakshmi narashimha:
Simhachalam temple is a Hindu temple located in Andhra Pradesh, South India, and is dedicated to the incarnation (avatar) of Vishnu known as Narasimha (the man-lion).
Atop the hill is a famous temple said to be the abode of narasimha swami, and hence the hill itself is called (nara)simhachalam. The temple is situated in the city of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
Temple History
It has Sri Varahalakshmi Narasimha Swamy as the presiding deity. Simhachalam temple is known as the second richest temple (after Tirupati) earning a revenue of Rs. 520 million. The statue of the deity gives "nijaroopa darshan" (holy appearance in true form) for only 12 hours in a year i.e on Akshaya Tritiya day, the rest of the time the statue is covered with sandalwood paste. The darshan described as chandana yatra or chandanotsavam falls every year in Vaisakha masa (May).
The deity at Simhachalam, the lion-man incarnation of Lord Mahavishnu is usually covered with sandalwood paste. The original shape of the deity in the tribhanga posture has two hands with the head of a lion on a human torso. An inscription dated as far back as 1098 AD of the Chola king Kuloththunga provides some clue as to its antiquity. Another inscription shows a Queen of the Eastern Ganga of Kalinga(ancient Orissa) (1137-56 AD) covering the image with gold while a third inscription says the eastern Ganga King of Orissa Narasimha Deva built the main/central shrine in 1267 A.D. With more than 252 inscriptions in Oriya and Telugu describing the antecedents of the temple, it is a historically important monument.
Sri Krishna Deva Raya after defeating the Gajapati ruler of Orissa Gajapati Prataparudra Dev visited the shrine twice in 1516 AD and 1519 AD and offered numerous villages for maintenance of bhogam (worship) along with valuable jewellery of which an emerald necklace is still in the temple. For the last three centuries the Royal family of Vizianagaram, " The Pusapati Gajapathi's" have been the temple's trustees. This temple was build in the style of Orissa temple architecture.
Hiranyakasipu was a Rakshasa king. He was in fact one of Vishnu's Dwarapalakas or gate keepers in Vaikuntha, Jaya and Vijaya. They had to take birth in the mortal world thrice because of a curse given by Sanaka, Sanandana, Sanathana and Sanathkumara, who were not allowed to take darshan of Mahavishnu by them. The other palaka was born as his brother Hiranyaaksha.
Hiranyakasipu wanted to become immortal and hence performed austerities (tapasya) to propitiate Lord Brahma. However, Lord Brahma said that was not possible so Hiranyakasipu asked Lord Brahma to grant him a boon so that he could not be killed by any animal or a man neither in the morning nor in the night, by any weapons, neither in sky nor on the earth.
Hiranyakasipu wanted the entire world to worship him. But, Prahalada, his son, was a devotee of Lord Narayana and always expressed his bhakti towards Him. In spite of warning him several times, Hiranyakasipu could not alter Prahlada's devotion.
This made Hiranyakasipu angry and he made numerous attempts to get Prahlada killed. One of them was to throw him off the top of a mountain. However, Vishnu rescued him by moving the mountain and made a small path for Prahaladha. It is said that in the place where the Lord stood to protect Prahaladha is the place where the temple is built.
